On the 26 of August , 2013 Viking Bank, the First Commercial Bank of New Russia, celebrated 25 years. The Bank is the oldest Russian commercial bank. Alexey Ustaev is the leader of the credit institution since its foundation.
Primarily, Viking Bank focuses on lending to the real economy, investment activity aimed at the development of small and medium business in St. Petersburg and rendering of services to the population. The Bank does a lot for the development of the banking sector in Russia - acts properly with interbank associations and public organizations, involves in lawmaking.
During the ceremony dedicated to the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Viking Bank Vladimir Dzhikovich, the President of the Northwest Banking Association, handed to Alexey Ustaev, the Chairman of the Board of Viking Bank the main award of the Assosiation – “Banker star”. Since the instituting an award in 2009 “Banker Star” is presented to outstanding leaders of leading banking institutions for their great personal contribution to the development of the Russian financial system . The winners of “Banker Star” are Nadezda Savinskaya, the Head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg; Viktor Halansky, the Chairman of the Court of Directors of Viking Bank; Vladimir Shorin, the Advisor to the Chairman of Severo-Zapadny Bank of Sberbank of Russia; Vladimir Dzhikovich, the President of the Northwest Banking Association.

In December 2012, Alexey Ustaev, the Chairman of Viking Bank was awarded the highest award of the Association of Russian Banks – the title "Honored banker". This award is given to representatives of the banking community, who have made great contribution to the development of the banking system. In the history of the Association the awards are presented twice to: Viktor Gerashchenko, the former head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, and Alla Grjaznova, the President of the Financial Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation. Alexey Ustaev became the first Chairman of Commercial Bank to be awarded the highest award of the Association of Russian Banks.
